This is my experience at Johnsons Redditch Volkswagen regarding the purchase of a used Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace from your dealership.
Prior to visiting, I specifically confirmed with the sales representative that the vehicle had been professionally valeted and thoroughly checked, with any issues addressed before collection. Based on this assurance, I proceeded with the visit and eventual purchase.
However, upon collection, I found that the condition of the vehicle did not meet the standard described. The car was not properly cleaned, with visible dirt still present. The seat belts were heavily soiled and transferred dirt onto clothing when used. Additionally, the left front window switch was faulty and hanging loose with exposed wiring, which was also acknowledged by a member of staff on site. The middle seat armrest also had noticeable glue residue that had not been cleaned.
Furthermore, after only two days of the vehicle being parked, the battery was too weak to start the car, raising concerns about the checks carried out prior to handover.
I also felt unduly pressured to proceed with the purchase, particularly due to the emphasis on clearing vehicles from the garage before month end. This influenced my decision to go ahead despite concerns that should have been resolved prior to collection.
Following the purchase, I was informed that the proposed solution for the faulty window switch would involve staff collecting the vehicle and returning it after repair. This would add approximately 140 miles to the vehicle, which I do not consider acceptable, especially as this issue should have been resolved before handover.
Overall, this experience has been disappointing, as it did not reflect the level of preparation, transparency, and customer care I expected from a Volkswagen dealership. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and used to improve the customer experience going forward.
